AWARD WINNING SERVICES

UPM Tilhill is renowned for being the UK's largest forestry and harvesting company. Its diversification into landscaping is also proving to be a great success. Repeated prestigious British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI) Awards have brought it recognition.

UPM Tilhill set out to stand apart from its competitors, offering wider expertise including an in-house ecology team to ensure the right balance between commercial return, ecological requirements and environmental compliance.

The goal for UPM Tilhill was to grow the business and to draw on the skills already available in the organisation. The company started out in soft landscaping, naturally progressing into more complex projects. It is now a big player in landscaping and possibly the only landscape company with an in-house ecologist with specialist licenses to work with protected species.

At Tilhill, they are also set up to link projects into sustainable energy use with power plants fuelled by wood.

Two of their most noteworthy BALI award winners are a waterfront development on the Cumbrian coast and the Armed Forces War Memorial, Staffordshire, the first national memorial built since the Second World War.
